Education is key! Remind your students that the only safe medications are ones prescribed by a trusted medical professional and dispensed by a licensed pharmacist.

A routine, scheduled safety drill will be held at Childress Elementary School Monday, September 30.

Please take a moment to review the Standard Response Protocol. The SRP is action-based, flexible, and easy to learn. It rationally organizes tactics for response to weather events, fires, accidents, intruders, and other threats to personal safety.


A secure drill is scheduled for 10:00am on Tuesday, September 24, at Childress Elementary School.

On Tuesday, September 17, the downtown tunnels on Commerce and Main Streets in Childress will be CLOSED by TXDOT for inspections at 8:00am. The closures are expected to last two hours for each tunnel. Those who use this route on a daily basis will need to use an alternate route that morning.


A routine, required safety drill will take place on August 27 at Childress Elementary School.

A required, routine safety drill will be held at Childress Elementary on Friday, August 23.

REMINDER: CHS Students are only allowed to leave campus during lunch if a parent/guardian comes to the school office to sign the student out and back in after lunch. Students who leave campus violating the lunch rule will be subject to disciplinary action per the Student Code of Conduct.

School nurses are required to have a signed doctor's order to give students any medication--prescription and/or over-the-counter.


Officers responded to an alert from Childress High School. Upon arrival, it was determined there was no threat.

Routine, required safety drills will be conducted August 14, 15, and 16 at Childress Junior High and Childress High School.

Please log into Parent Portal before picking up your schedule on August 1, 2024, to verify that your registration paperwork is 100% complete. If you have not completed online registration, the link is on the Childress ISD website!
